Writers, Authors, and Genres (In-class Lab)

Similarities:

• creativity is needed for their work
• dedication of time and energy to their craft

Differences:

• writers work for steady income, perhaps writing for multiple different blogs
• authors work for income from book to book

Writers:                                                                Authors:

anyone can be a writer. you write something.	aims to be published
not looking, necessarily, to be published	self-oriented
service-oriented	writing for their created characters
keeps audience in mind. appealing to GLOBAL masses.	promote their works on social media
not focused on a single ‘masterpiece’	source of original ideas to create a ‘great’ work

This Genre let us be extremely straight-forward. It’s a lot easier to understand. Less fun. Less detailed.
